MAKE YOUR PERFECT WEDDING DRESSES
How to decide which dress will fit and flatter you best.
If You’re Pear shaped
Look for: a skirt that gradually flares into an A natural formation of the waist to the floor, pointed to the narrowness of the abdomen and floating away from the hips and thighs. (Firmer materials such as duchesse satin and taffeta, are particularly effective because they do not hold.) A spaghetti-strap bodice or a V-neck will also showcase a slimmer torso.
Keep in mind: A classic A-line silhouette is great for formal weddings, but it can also be dressed down when made from a more casual fabric, like eyelet lace or raw silk Shantung.
If You’re Busty
Look for: A dress with a scooped neckline. It opens your face and let your cleavage without showing too much cleavage. If you like the look of strapless dresses, choose one that a slight dip around the neck like a sweetheart, instead of a style that goes through (which makes your breasts appear even larger and more shelf like).
Keep in mind: dust on the bodice, which has a sheen to it (such as organza, satin or silk), the volume and call attention to add to your chest. Material that has ruffles will have the same effect.
If You’re plus-sized
Look for: An Empire dress with a skirt that starts just below the bust and ends in a floor length A-line progressive. Make sure that the Empire seam does not start on the breast and that no folds of the fabric, reminiscent of maternity wear. The dress should play to your shape, if too loose, it will add pounds.
Keep in mind: Find materials like satin that structure, rather than something flowy. If you love the romantic look of lighter fabrics, choose a dress with a stiffer base, then add an embroidered tulle overlay.
If You’re apple-shaped
Look for: a dress that cinches at the lowest point on the waist, then flares out in a progressive form. Choose one with lots of texture to the body-mind or ready-Ruche detailing to camouflage and fits snugly, creating a corset like effect. The most slenderizing neck for you is one with a deep V that will draw eyes toward the vertical, not horizontal.
Keep in mind: Avoid trumpet dress styles, which emphasize that the area where your body is the largest and flare on the legs and knees, where you are most slender.
